Crying Out to God

Crying to GodHear my cry, O God;
Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  Psalm 61:1-2 (NKJV)

My favorite devotion book, Our Daily Bread, had a wonderful devotion a few weeks ago called “Crying Out to God.”  Sometimes our hearts are so overwhelmed for our children, our families, our friends, and our country.  All we can do is cry. Jesus hears us and comes to us.  And so I share this devotion link with all those who need Him to hear today…

Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.  Psalm 55:22 (NKJV)

  2. I’m so happy that I found your blog. I’ve been trying to figure out how to journal. I’m not a writer. And I’ve asked others that I know journal and they really can’t understand why I would have a problem. I’m thankful I found your blog and I’m going to try to journal based on your TEACUPP method. Thank you for being willing to share. I’m struggling a lot right now and I need to hear from the Lord. I could really use His wisdom and guidance. Thanks again. Sherry

  3. Could you explain the C and the U a little more? I’m not sure I understand that part.

  4. Hi, Sherry,
    Thank you for visiting My TEA CUPP Prayers. I love to journal my prayers because it keeps me focused and my mind doesn’t wander so much as I pray. It also lets me know I really did pray. I can look back and see how God answered my prayers. The TEA CUPP Prayers are just a way to get you started, and you can just keep praying and praying the way that works best for you. May God give you wisdom and guidance in every area of your life. A verse for you…Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 Blessings, Jennifer Grace

  5. Hi, Denny! Oh, thank you! Kevin will make you a cookie!!! God bless you, too!

  6. Hi, Sherry,
    Thank you for asking about the C and U. The TEA CUPP is an acronym to help us have a conversation with Jesus. The first part, we talk to Him and say THANKS, EXALT (praise) His Name, and ADMIT our sins, asking for His forgiveness. The next part is where HE speaks to us. As I read my Bible I underline verses that I hear God calling me to do. Those are my CALL verses. During my prayer time, I talk to Jesus about it and ask Him to give me strength to do whatever it is. I also read my story in the pages of the Bible, I see how He has been at work in my life since before I was born (Psalm 139). Verses like those help me UNDERSTAND my story. I write them in my journal and talk to Jesus about them. I might even use these verses to share my testimony with others. Finally, Jesus gives me PROMISES that I write down to help me through each day. I pour out my heart to Him with my PETITIONS for my family and friends. I hope this helps you. Please let me know. God bless you! Jennifer Grace
