For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (NKJV)
I started using Instagram this past year and for some reason my feed is full of babies and health remedies! The algorithm must know that I love babies and am trying to be healthy to keep visiting my grandbabies!
When we celebrated Resurrection Sunday a few weeks ago, we celebrated new life in Christ Jesus. Do you notice all the “new life” that shows up to help us: baby chicks, baby bunnies, nesting birds…God’s creation joins us in celebrating new life each spring. Even daffodils are blooming, joining the praise to their Creator, and the lilac bushes are budding. Yes, there is new life everywhere!
A few years ago I wrote a devotion entitled, “Christmas Must Be Pro-Life.” If Christmas is Pro-Life, the day most Christians call Easter must REALLY be Pro-Life! For that is why Jesus came. He came that we may have life and have it more abundantly!
…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 (NKJV)
Since the Son of God stepped out of heaven and came to this earth to suffer and die for my sins and your sins and all the worlds’ sins, and to rise again from the grave on the third day to give us life, don’t you think that means He is Pro-Life?
For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. John 5:21 (NKJV)
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13 (NKJV)
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11(NKJV)
Think of all the special Bible babies, from our baby Lord Jesus born of the Virgin Mary, to John the Baptist who was born to barren Elizabeth preparing His way. From baby Isaac born to barren Sarah to fulfill God’s promise to Abraham, to baby Samuel born for weeping Hannah who then gave him to the Lord. To the baby in Solomon’s first judgment in 1 Kings 3:16–28. Yes, God had special plans for all these babies and for every baby!
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them. Psalm 139:15–16 (NKJV)
So the king answered and said, “Give the first woman the living child, and by no means kill him; she is his mother.” 1 Kings 3:27 (NKJV)
And so, I write today, exhorting all ladies, moms, and grandmas to continue to pray for LIFE! Pray for mom’s everywhere to choose life for their babies. Pray for our states and nation to write laws protecting babies. Pray for those on the front-lines, working hard in pro-life pregnancy centers to encourage moms to choose life. Give as you can to these organizations or become a volunteer. There are so many ways we can help.
There are so many ways you can support life. Here’s a new one I recently learned about: https://preborn.com/about/
And this wonderful picture of God creating life in the womb: https://babyolivia.liveaction.org/
Today’s TEA CUPP: Read Psalm 106:37–38 for a sorrowful look at the effects of not choosing life. Then read again John 3:16 and other verses about why Jesus came, to give us LIFE. What can we do to support babies and encourage moms to choose life today? Let’s begin by praying.
A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. John 16:21 (NKJV)
