A Strong Tower

The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.  Proverbs 18:10 (NIV 1984)

Do little things throughout your day remind you of God’s Word?  That’s how it’s been for me lately. I begin my day reading my Bible while nursing my baby, and then my baby reminds me of God’s Word in his daily antics.

Our little Joel is 10 1/2 months old  and crawling everywhere.  He loves to explore, from his toys in the carpeted area to the kitchen linoleum where he clangs the pots and pans.  We put safety latches on cupboards and plugs in outlets to keep Joel safe.

Joel often crawls into the bathroom when we brush our teeth.  Under the sink we keep our supply of toilet paper and tissues.  Joel thinks it’s great fun to unwrap and taste the toilet paper.  He and his brother Kevin build a tower with the Kleenex boxes. It is just a moment and that tissue tower topples over from our toddler’s touch.

Not too worry, Joel just decides to climb on top of the boxes. When he tires of all his exploring, our baby crawls over to me and tugs at my pant leg, reaching up.  I give him a big hug and Joel clings to me.

As I gently rock my baby, I meditate on what God has shown me...God keeps me safe…the Lord is a Strong Tower, a Rock that will never topple…I cling to Jesus as my baby clings to me…  Thank you, dear Jesus, for what you to teach me as a mom, help me teach my baby about YOU.

My soul clings to You;
    Your right hand upholds me.  Psalm 63:8  (NIV 1984)

Today’s TEA CUPP:  Read Psalm 63:1-8.  In whatever you face today, cling to the Strong Tower of Jesus. Keep God’s Word in your heart in all your daily tasks.

For You have been my refuge,
    a strong tower against the foe.  Psalm 61:3 (NIV 1984)
