Why Joel?

Recently I was reminded why we chose the name Joel for our baby.  Joel’s name means “the Lord is God” and “God’s messenger.”  The theme of the book of Joel in the Bible is the Day of the Lord.

In Acts, Chapter 2, verses 16-21, Peter shares a sermon on the day of Pentecost, when God sent His Holy Spirit to His people. Peter stood and spoke these words from the Old Testament prophet Joel, a call for all people to turn to the Lord…

 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will http://www.americansleepmedicine.com/ambien-insomnia-treatment/ pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Shall be saved.’  Acts 2:16-21 (NKJV)

Oh, my sweet baby. That great and awesome day of the Lord could be coming soon.  May God be glorified in your life.  May you call on the name of the Lord and be saved. And, may you point people to Jesus, just like the prophet Joel.
