musicMake a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing. Psalm 100:1-2 (NKJV)

The other day I was driving a half hour to a doctor appointment for my son. Finding myself a little overwhelmed and not sure how to pray, I started singing songs in the order of My TEA CUPP Prayers. As I poured out my heart to Jesus in song, He comforted my soul, and my son’s doctor appointment went well. Did you know even Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn before He was betrayed and sent to the cross? God uses music to touch our souls. Here are a few of my favorites:

T is for Thanksgiving
Once Again I Thank You

E is for Exalting
Every Knee will Bow before the Lion and the Lamb

A is for Admitting
Amazing Love

C is for Calling
Here I Am, Lord

U is for Understanding
In Christ Alone

P is for Promises
On Eagles Wings

P is for Petitions
The Lord’s Prayer

Today’s TEA CUPP: You can do this, too! Collect your favorite praise songs and put them in order for your own TEA CUPP time in song. Load them on your iPod or smartphone to play at such times as driving in the car, exercising, or doing household chores. Come before His presence with singing!

And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Mark 14:26 (NKJV)

My TEA CUPP Prayers: The Book!

Dear TEA CUPP Friends,

I’m so happy to announce My TEA CUPP Prayers Book is finally here!  So many years and so many prayers went into this book. All praise and glory to Jesus!

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Psalm 103:1 (NKJV)

 My TEA CUPP Prayers is available in print from the publisher Xulon and from Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You may view your ebook right now from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.  Apple users may find it on iBooks. Thank you for all who are interested!  I’ve listed a few more ways to get my book at the end of this article, including how to recieve an autographed copy :-).

These 77 Devotions were compiled over the past 15 years as I prayed and raised my children.  The book invites you to a daily TEA time with Jesus.  Each week I share with you a different part of the TEA CUPP acronym, helping you pray by using God’s Word. Every message includes a “Today’s TEA CUPP,” encouraging you in your prayer life.  I pray this book brings you closer to Jesus as you meet with Him each day for TEA.

A peek at the back of the book jacket:

Who: You
When: Today
What:  TEA with Jesus
Where:  Your house
Why:  Because Jesus longs to hear from you
How:  Just open your BIBLE and your heart

Dear Friend,
YOU are invited to TEA with Jesus TODAY!!!  “Come to Me,” Jesus calls in Matthew 11:28.  Please accept!  Allow God to draw you into a daily TEA time with Jesus through this 77-day devotional.

My TEA CUPP Prayers is an invitation to women everywhere to sit down daily with Jesus for a cup of tea.  The TEA CUPP acronym provides the parts of prayers, as we use the BIBLE to talk with our Lord.  Here new Christians discover a way to draw nearer to Jesus and old Christians taste a new flavor for their prayers. Women will dig deeper into God’s Word, come closer to Jesus by meeting with Him each day, and unleash the power of the Holy Spirit through their prayers.

T = Thanksgiving
E = Exalting His Name
A = Admitting my sins
C = Calling for my life
U = Understanding my story
P = Promises (Claiming God’s)
P = Petitions (Pouring out my heart)

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7

What’s next? Now I am compiling Mom’s TEA CUPP Prayers as a second devotional book, with more recent writings. I also have dreams of other projects as God allows. I’m available to come speak to your ladies’ group and invite them to TEA with the King of kings. Thank you for praying for me!

Today’s TEA CUPP: Remember, if you feel unworthy of an invitation to TEA with our Lord, Jesus shared water with a scandalous Samaritan woman when Jews did not associate with Samaritans, and men did not speak to the women.  Jesus certainly is ready to meet with you.  Behold, He stands at the door and knocks.  My friend, please say, “Come in, Lord Jesus, come in.”

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)

p.s.  A few more ways to get a copy of my book:  In Big Timber, Montana, it is available at The Coffee Stop and The Fort or from me for $15.  If you’d like me to mail you a copy, I can do that for $20 (because of shipping) and it will include a bookmark and autograph. Please send a check for $20 to my address on the contact page and I will mail you one.  May God bless you!

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10 (NIV)

What a perfect place to sing a song of confession and forgiveness…in the shower!  As the water washes the dirt from my skin, so God’s Holy Spirit washes through my soul, scrubbing me and making me new.  Welcome back to Singing Week at My TEA CUPP Prayers.  We’ve been sharing another way to enjoy a TEA CUPP during a busy day – singing.  Here’s a song for the ADMIT part of our prayers…

I first learned this song around a campfire at church camp. As we sat on the hard logs and gazed into the golden flames, our hearts would ponder the pastor’s message.  He asked us to write our sins on slips of paper.  One by one we carried our papers to a wooden cross near the fire, and nailed them to that cross.  With a hammer and our own hands, we pounded in the nails.  Because all of us helped pound those nails into Jesus’ hands. Then when all were finished hammering, the pastor laid the cross in the campfire.  And we watched as our sins were burned away.  As far as the East is from the West, our sins are no more.  While gazing into the flames, we sang this song of David from Psalm 51…

Create in me a clean heart, O God

And renew a right spirit within me

Create in me a clean heart, O God

And renew a right spirit within me

Cast me not away from Thy presence, O Lord

And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me

Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation

And renew a right Spirit within me – Amen
