Our little Joel often comes to me with his blankets and says, “Mommy hold Joel.” In the last few weeks as his vocabulary has increased, he says, “Please hold me, Mommy.” Usually there is a sense of desperation in his voice, as if something just frightened him. But he knows he can come right to Mommy, and there he will be safe.
We should have the same assurance with our heavenly Father. When we are scared or overwhelmed by daily trials, we can pray, “Jesus hold me” or “Please hold me, Father.” God promises in His word that He will hold our hand and help us. He has inscribed our names in the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16). Doesn’t that bring you such comfort?
You can expand your cry to include everyone on your prayer list. I pray, Jesus hold Kent, Jesus hold Kallie, Jesus hold Jacob, Jesus hold Kevin, Jesus hold Joel… And the Lord hears my prayers and holds them, too.
Today’s TEA CUPP: Trace your hand on a piece of paper or in your prayer journal. Write the names of everyone on your prayer list inside the hand outline. Claim God’s promise to hold each one.
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me. Isaiah 49:16 (NKJV)
And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:28 (NKJV)
