Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NKJV)
Some days I am overwhelmed by the number of people who need prayers for healing. How can I pray for all of them effectively? Since reading Praying in Color by Sybil MacBeth, I’ve appreciated my prayer journal and how I can use it to talk to Jesus even more.
Last week I noticed there were several people with various ailments from all parts of the body on my prayer list…wrist surgery, ankle surgery, foot surgery, back surgery, elbow surgery, shoulder surgery, broken legs, and people with cancer throughout their bodies. It was enough body parts to need a whole new body!
I drew a person in my prayer journal and started writing names on each body part. Carol on the wrist, Jacob on the ankle, Joan on the foot, Karl on the back, Troy on the elbow, Casey on the shoulder, Grandpa and Greg on the legs, and so on. Those with cancer I wrote beside the body, for they need healing in more than one place. I selected this promise from 2 Kings 20:5 and claimed it for these dear people…
…”I have heard your prayers, I have seen your tears, surely I will heal you.”
Writing and drawing this in my prayer journal during my TEA CUPP time with Jesus took away my anxiety about so many people needing prayers. I gave them all to Jesus for Him to heal. I know I prayed because it is in my journal. I can even put my drawing on the bathroom mirror to remind me to keep praying. Thank You, Jesus, for healing this body of Your people. Thank You for carrying this burden for us.
Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)
