And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” Luke 22:19-10 (NKJV)
I am always talking about TEA parties…sitting down with Jesus for a CUPP of TEA and prayers…getting together with other ladies for TEA and fellowship…soaking up the warmth of Jesus like a CUPP of hot TEA…
But what is the most special TEA party of all? It hit me in church the other day, when the pastor raised the communion cup and repeated the words of Jesus, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” The congregation was about to partake in the Lord’s Supper. We shared the bread and the cup to remember Jesus’ body and blood. Jesus gave His body on the cross as a spotless sacrifice for the sins of all the world. He gave His blood to wash away our sins and make us new. The Lord’s Supper brings us together to remember what Jesus did on the cross. This is the most special TEA party of all. Thank you, Jesus, for giving us this memorial TEA party of You.
And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. 1 Corinthians 11:24-26 (NKJV)
