My Traveling TEA CUPP Prayers

The joy of My TEA CUPP Prayers is that Jesus and prayers go with us wherever we go. Do you need to travel for work or with your family? Your TEA CUPP Prayers can come, too. Are you going on a family vacation this summer? Bring along a Bible and your TEA CUPP Prayers. Perhaps you are wondering, “How does this work?”

The simplest item to pack for your trip is your Bible.  Put it in your purse or shoulder bag where it will be handy. In my Bible are verses I have underlined before that I can use for my prayer time. When I am at home, I like to write my favorite Bible verses on note cards, as conversation starters for My TEA CUPP Prayers. But when I am traveling, the note cards are just one more thing to pack.   So, I like having underlined verses ready for me in my Bible.

Usually I’ll get up before others and have My TEA CUPP Prayers in a quiet corner. I begin by reading my Bible, letting Jesus speak to me first. Then I use God’s Word to pray back to Jesus all that is on my heart. I also have my prayer list book mark, reminding me of all the people for whom I want to pray. I like to bring a journal along to write my prayers, but if you really want to pack light, all you need is your Bible.

Today I am at the beautiful Camp Mivoden on Hayden Lake in northern Idaho. My husband is here for archery and low ropes training. Our building has some empty rooms, so I was able to find my own little spot for My TEA CUPP Prayers this morning. Looking for some conversation starters, I flipped to the Psalms and found these verses I had underlined before. There are so many verses in the Psalms that are beautiful prayers.

  • Thanks: Psalm 30:12 (NKJV) …O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
  • Exalt: Psalm 27:1 (NKJV) “The LORD is my light and my salvation;
    Whom shall I fear?
    The LORD
    is the strength of my life;
    Of whom shall I be afraid?”
  • Admit: Psalm 25:7  (NKJV) “Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O LORD.”
  • Call: Psalm 40:8 (NKJV) “I delight to do Your will, O my God,
    And Your law
    is within my heart.”
  • Understand: Psalm 53:2 (NKJV) “God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.”
  • Promise: Psalm 60:12 (NKJV) “Through God we will do valiantly,
    For
    it is He who shall tread down our enemies.
  • Petition: Psalm 54:2 (NKJV) “Hear my prayer, O God;
    Give ear to the words of my mouth.”

If you are traveling in a car and someone else is driving, you may have your TEA CUPP right in your seat. If you are traveling by plane, bus, or train, you can also enjoy your TEA CUPP prayers before you reach your destination. Little do the other passengers know that you brought someone extra on board with you…JESUS!

If you are the driver, you can sing and pray your way through your TEA CUPP Prayers, with songs and verses you have memorized before.  If you are alone, you can just pour out your heart to God as you drive, bringing Him the names of everyone on your prayer list.

Yes, the wonderful thing about My TEA CUPP Prayers is that you can take Jesus and prayers with you wherever you go.  A sign above the hand-washing sink in our camp kitchen says this in a fun way:

“Jesus and germs are everywhere,

So wash your hands and say your prayers.”
