“I’ve got you covered.”

Blessed are they
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered
Romans 4:7 (NKJV)

If you are ever on the Boulder Road south of McLeod, Montana on a summer Sunday evening, you need to stop at Camp on the Boulder for their famous cook-out and praise service (5:30 & 7 p.m.)  The all-you-can-eat barbeque buffet will feed your body, while the praise service feeds your soul.  Just the other night we had the joy of hearing the debut of the Hawley Mountain Boys’ praise band, and the gospel preaching of Pastor John Wallace of Big Timber, Montana.

Pastor John open to us the book of Genesis when Adam and Eve were in the garden and tempted by Satan.  Perhaps you would like to go back and read this true story again (Genesis 3).  Pastor John reminded us that because of Adam’s and Eve’s sins, we are all sinners (Romans 3:23).  Just as Adam and Eve learned they were naked and needed to be covered, we need a covering for our sin. And just as the first blood was shed to make animal skin clothes for Adam and Eve, so blood is required as payment for our sins.  That covering and blood is Jesus Christ.  He bore all our sins and shed His blood for us on the cross at Calvery.  All of God’s wrath was poured out on Jesus for my sins, for your sins, and for the sins of all believers.

How can we know that our sins are covered?  When we ask Jesus to be our Savior, He promises, “I’ve got you covered.”

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called
you by your name;
You
are Mine.” Isaiah 43:1 (NKJV)

“Your sins are forgiven you.” Luke 5:20 (NKJV)

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.”
Psalm 32:1  (NKJV)

“You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people;
You have covered all their sin.”
Psalm 85:2 (NKJV)

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9  (NKJV)

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV)

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1 (NKJV)

Our Daily Bread Devotional (December 30, 2002) shared this poem by Taylor:

Calvary covers it all,

My past with its sin and stain;

My guilt and despair Jesus took on Him there,

And Calvary covers it all. — Taylor

Oh, my friends, won’t you sit down with Jesus today for TEA and ADMIT your sins, ask His forgiveness, and believe in Jesus’ name forever? Reading Psalm 51 to God is a great way to begin. Jesus has you covered!
