Standing on the Promises

The LORD is faithful to all His PROMISES
and loving toward all He has made.
Psalm 145:13b (NIV)

A year or so ago I was going through a tough time (well actually, it seems there is always a problem we are experiencing), but during that tough time, a friend suggested adding something new to my quiet time routine, something fresh to feed my hurting soul.  She had several books she recommended, but we didn’t have money for books.  Yet I did have available to me an old hymnal.

So I began to read a hymn each morning as part of my quiet time.  Some hymns I didn’t know the tune, but the words were so powerful I could read them as poetry or prayers.  Other hymns were familiar to me, and I hummed along in my quiet place where it didn’t matter if I was off key.  And so God used the hymn-writers of the past as a balm for my hurting soul.   There is probably an old hymnal at your church, just waiting for you to borrow and bless your quiet time.

One hymn I enjoy that reminds me to claim all God’s PROMISES in good http://findviagra.com/viagra-popular-drug-world/ times and in bad, is this hymn written by R. Kelso Carter in 1886, “Standing on the Promises.” May your day be blessed as you sing this hymn and stand on God’s PROMISES today, too.

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain
