My Call: Go Where I Send Thee

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Mark 16:15 (NIV)

As I prayed about a song for the Call section of My TEA CUPP Prayers, this old children’s spiritual song came to my mind.  According to Wikipedia, “Children, Go Where I Send Thee”  has been sung by many famous people, including the Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Johny Cash and many others.  I wonder if they were all able to go where God sent them?  Let’s join the choir and sing along, praying that we will follow God’s call to the ends of the earth, or right next door.

Children, Go Where I Send Thee
Children, go where I send thee,
How shall I send thee?
I’m gonna send thee one by one
One for the little bitty – baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem.
Children, go where I send thee,
How shall I send thee?
I’m gonna send thee two by two
Two for Paul and – Silas
One for the little bitty – baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem.

[Repeat in decending order:]
Three for the Hebrew children…
Four for the four that stood at the door…
Five for the gospel preachers…
Six for the six that never got fixed…
Seven for the seven that never got to heaven…
Eight for the eight that stood at the gate…
Nine for the nine all dressed so fine…
Ten for the ten commandments…
Eleven for the eleven deriders…
Twelve for the twelve Apostles…

Here’s a YouTube link to hear “Children, Go Where I Send Thee” with the Crimson River Quartet.  Enjoy!
