Promises for Healing

We all know someone who is sick and needs our prayers for healing.  It seems that every week at church there is a new prayer request for someone with cancer or another illlness.  And so I add them to my prayer list and pray.  Sometimes the person is me, and I pray for healing for myself.

One way I like to pray for healing is to claim God’s promises for others and myself.  I take one of the healing promises listed below and put the person’s name in the verse.  Or I read the verse as I pray for them.  And I claim God’s promise for healing.

My little friend Emma has bone cancer.  And so I pray for her Isaiah 57:19…“Peace, peace, to those far and near (especially to her mom Shirley). And God will heal Emma.” Oh Jesus, I claim your healing miracles for Emma.

One of these days I will share some of the miracles God has done in answer to claiming His healing promises.  Do you have any healing miracles to share?

“Peace, peace, to those far and near,”
says the LORD. “And I will heal them.”
Isaiah 57:19 (NIV)

He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering. Mark 5:24 (NIV)

And wherever He went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged Him to let them touch even the edge of His cloak, and all who touched Him were healed. Mark 6:56 (NIV)

Then He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” Luke 8:48 (NIV)

Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
Isaiah 58:8 (NIV)

He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation.
Psalm 91:15-16 (NIV)
