“Please wait…”

The other day I was at the IGA for my weekly grocery shopping. We just got a new debit card so I won’t have to write checks and slow down the line anymore. After I swiped my card, a message appeared on the scanner screen, saying,

“Please wait…”

My friend Cindy was just behind me in line, so I turned to her and explained, “That is what God tells me all the time, ‘Please wait…'” Cindy laughed and agreed with me.

But isn’t that just what God calls us to do sometimes?  He might not tell us to go or do or anything, except to just wait.  I’ve had many prayer requests for so long…healing, miracles for our camping ministry, salvation for friends and family.  I’ve been the persistent lady, knocking and knocking and knocking at God’s door.  And the answers haven’t come yet.  I thought I needed to be the answer to the problems and worked until I was so tired.  But perhaps God was calling me to just wait on Him.  Wait patiently.  Please wait… sometimes this call is harder than when He tells us to go and do something.  O Lord, help me to wait patiently for You.

“Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him” Psalm 37:7 (NIV)
