My Call buried in a verse

Some days I find God’s call for me buried inside of an unlikely verse.  These appear as special treasures God has hidden for me to discover. The excitement of finding such a verse is like coming upon a rare wildflower in a mountain meadow.  I’m especially grateful when God gives me a call that is short enough to remember all day. Do you know what I mean?

We diligently read our Bibles each morning, underline a verse, put a star next to it, marvel at what a great verse God has given us, close the Bible, and get on with the day.

The next morning we get up, ask God’s forgiveness for yesterday’s blunders, open the Bible, see the verse starred and underlined from yesterday and cry, “O Lord, why didn’t I keep Your Word with me all day! That would have helped! Forgive me again!”

So, I really appreciate a short call I can remember all day. Here’s one I found buried in Genesis 5:24 one day:

Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. Genesis 5:24 (NIV)

I circled “walk” and “with God” There’s my call for today: “Walk with God.” O Lord, help me remember through all the ups and downs of today!

What calls have you found buried in verses?

New International Version (NIV)
