What does your TEA CUPP Party with Jesus look like? I’d like to share mine with you.
Every morning I get up early, sleep still in my eyes, pull my hair into a quick pony tail, tug on my old blue bath robe, and stumble out to the kitchen. While my tea kettle heats on the stove, I empty the dishwasher and set out bowls and glasses for breakfast. I fill my mug with the steamy water, wrap myself in a blanket and curl up in the corner of the sofa with my Bible and prayer journal, my own quiet time before my family awakes.
But in my mind I imagine…I’m in a beautiful garden. An emerald wicker table with a glass top sits on a freshly mowed lawn. There are just two chairs, one for Jesus and one for me, with flowery cushions to match the tulips and daffodils. On the table is my great grandmother’s floral tea pot and two china cups, one for Jesus and one for me. I’m wearing a pink gown and my hair doesn’t look like I just woke up. Together we sit, just Jesus and me, sipping tea. And I…
Thank Jesus for all His blessings,
Exalt Jesus for being my Savior,
Admit my sins (again!), and we chat about my
Call, and what He wants me to do today and in the future, and He helps me to
Understand my story (just a little bit more), and He gives me a
Promise to hold onto for today. And finally, He listens as I
Petition Him, and pour out my heart to Him for all my family and friends.
And sometimes when I am so sad, He lets me climb into His lap and He just holds me in His everlasting arms. That is My TEA CUPP Party with the King of kings.
“There is no one like the God of Jeshurun,
who rides on the heavens to help you
and on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God is your refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:26-27 (NIV)
Please tell me about your tea time with Jesus.
